Neurofeedback is a cutting edge technology that can help peak performance, elevate stamina, and increase overall mental resilience and flexibility. Neurofeedback can help you learn to feel more focused, calm and aware even in the most challenging situations.
Neurofeedback combines EEG technology with specialized computer software designed to interpret EEG signals on a computer monitor. The client has EEG sensors placed on specific sites on the head that read the different frequencies and amplitudes of the brain (brain waves). The client sits in front of a monitor and receives feedback in the form of a visual animation with audio. When the brain is producing too much or too little amplitude in a specific frequency at a specific location, the neurofeedback technique will improve the brain’s ability to make adjustments, allowing the brain to find the correct amplitude and frequency to match the stimuli. Over time, the brain will learn to change accordingly on its own with out the facilitation of the instrument.
Also called EEG Biofeedback, this technique continues to be studied extensively here in the United States as well as internationally. For a list of some of these research papers you can visit the International Society of Neuronal Regulation (http://www.isnr.org). Neurofeedback has been shown to help with ADHD, sleep disturbances, addictions, epilepsy, chronic pain management, autistic spectrum disorders, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress syndrome, and mood disorders. Neurofeedback is being researched and used successfully to remedy many learning disabilities as well.
